Bucs close to resigning Black

Bucs general manager Mark Dominik has stressed all off-season the importance of signing the teams own free agents and yesterday, during his State of the Union address at one Buc Place, he told members of the local pen and mic club that the team “We’ll be taking our own players out to dinner.” Now comes word from Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times that unheralded strongside linebacker Quincy Black is closing in on a deal that will keep him in red and pewter for the foreseeable future.

Guard Davin Joseph who was billed as the team’s top priority heading into free agency told millions of fans on twitter earlier this morning, that he’s still waiting for a contract offer.

“I am still waiting on a contract offer from Tampa. The earliest I can sign a contract is on Friday.”

However, his agent, Ben Dogra, is in talks with other teams at this juncture and there is no word on whether he has received any substantial offers yet. Joseph is scheduled to have dinner with Dominik and head coach Raheem Morris this evening.
