The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed LB Zac Diles to a two-year contract and claimed TE Zack Pianalto off waivers from the Buffalo Bills.
Diles joins the Buccaneers after spending the past three seasons with the Houston Texans, where he played in 50 career games with 33 starts. He has amassed 209 career tackles, 1.0 sack, one interception, three passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He has also added 20 special teams tackles during his four-year career. He originally entered the league as a seventh-round selection (218th overall) of the Texans in the 2007 NFL Draft and was most recently with the St. Louis Rams this offseason before being released during their final cuts.
Pianalto, who played collegiately at the University of North Carolina, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2011. With the Tar Heels, he played in 34 games, recording 94 receptions for 918 yards and three touchdowns.
The team also announced it has signed T Will Barker, S Ahmad Black, QB Rudy Carpenter, TE Collin Franklin, WR Ed Gant, TE Daniel Hardy, RB Mossis Madu and LB Derrell Smith to the practice squad. All eight were waived by the Buccaneers as part of their roster reductions.
In addition, the club waived CB D.J. Johnson and DE George Johnson.
