With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers already thin along the offensive line,
things have begun to unravel a bit, with news breaking that veteran center an offensive line stalwart Jeff Faine will miss several weeks with a triceps injury. The team is now going to turn to rookie free agent center Jonathan Compas.
Raheem Morris addressed the situation during his Monday press conference at One Buc Place saying “We’re going to look on our roster and off our roster. Compas came in yesterday and finished off the game for us, but we’ve got guys on the roster and we also have guys off the roster that we have to keep any eye out for.”
There is growing speculation the team could resign recently released veteran interior swing-man Sean Mahan, to add depth as he has familiarity with the teams blocking scheme after spending training camp with the Bucs battling for a roster spot before the team released him.
While there has not been any indication on exactly how long Faine will be out, there are differing reports from a few weeks up to a month and a half.
The team could alos look at moving second year left guard Jeremy Zuttah to center and inserting Marcus Johnson in at left guard.
