Bucs News & Notes: Foster Getting More First Team Reps

by Staff Report on August 6, 2011

Rookie MLB Mason Foster continues to see his reps with the first team defense increase – in this morning’s walkthrough to prepare for tonight’s practice, at Raymond James Stadium Foster was running with the first team defense and barking out adjustments and audibles.

DT Gerald McCoy who suffered a strained right rotator cuff injury, in yesterday’s padded practice participated fully in Saturday mornings walk-through.

Word is that the Bucs will release the official – unofficial first depth chart Monday. Of course it’s a fluid depth chart with the team expected to allow potential starters to play roughly 50% more snaps in pre-season games this year then in past years. So there’s bound to be some tinkering taking place before its all said and done.

With so many fretting over the lacking of free spending in free agency. Don’t worry; the Bucs are a lot closer to that magical 89%, even though it’s not in effect this season. Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com is reporting the team is at $108. million.

The banners that were ripped down before the lockout started, have gone back up with the players one would expect QB Josh Freeman, RB LeGarrette Blount, WR Mike Williams and DT Gerald McCoy now grace on the corners of Ray Jay.

Backup QB Josh Johnson is content with his role on the Bucs but is ready in a pinch should the team need him.
