Speaking on 620 WDAE The Sports Animal, on the Ron and Ian show Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik informed listeners that the team has just re-signed linebacker Adam Hayward to a 3-year deal.
Hayward, 27, a four-year veteran who was drafted with the 184th overall selection in the sixth round out of Portland State, in 2007 is listed at 6-foot-1, 240-pounds. Hayward started 3 games for the injured Quincy Black last season. He has totaled 80 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 fumble recoveries in his career while playing in 80-games. A special team standout, evident by his 58 special team tackles.
Dominik said Hayward will get a chance to compete at the mike linebacker position but stated he feels the team is pretty much set in the middle and views Hayward as an outsider backer.
The addition of Hayward gives the team flexibility as Hayward can play anyone of the three linebacker spots and adds veteran leadership to the kick coverage units.
