The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their first depth chart of the 2011 season. The official depth chart gives fans a glimpse, into the minds of the coaching staff. The first thing many need to remember is that its fluid and will evolve over the course of training camp and the pre-season. Basically nothing is set and stone.
Looking at it, there’s not many surprises but there are a few exceptions.
One of the more interesting things that was revealed with the release of the depth chart is that LS Andrew Economos, is missing from it. Undrafted rookie Christian Yount is listed as the teams primary long snapper.
The first thing that stands out, is that TE Daniel Hardy the teams 7th round-pick from this year is ahead of TE Ryan Purvis and TE Nathan Overbay on the depth chart.
G/C Jeremy Zuttah who’s has played every interior line position over the past three years is the teams back-up center. Of course if there was an injury to either Davin Joseph or Ted Larsen, Zuttah would no doubt be the first man off the bench to fill in.
Swing tackle Demar Dotson who filled in for Donald Penn during his holdout, but later switched to the right side before succumbing to a knee injury is Penn’s primary backup this year.
Michael Bennett who finished last season as the starter at LDE is penciled in to start in-front of second round-pick Da’Quan Bowers.
DE Alex Magee whom the team traded for last year is currently 4th behind third year pro Kyle Moore at LDE.
Rookie MLB Mason Foster is currently listed as the teams staring mike backer ahead of Tyrone McKenzie.
Rookie CB Anthony Gaitor is listed as the teams fifth corner ahead of Elbert Mack.
