Stephen Holder, of the St. Pete Times is reporting the Buccaneers have reached a one year agreement with safety Will Allen worth $1.83 million, but has incentives built in the could make the deal as high as $2.35 million. Allen a special teams captain, was originally drafted in the fourth round of 2004. Allen has played in 76 games with the Bucs. He started all 16 contest in 2006 at safety registering 83 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 2 passes defensed, in 2007 & 2008 Allen collected 36 special teams tackles.
Allen provides depth and the ability to start in a pinch at either safety spot. While not a sex move, he does help shore up the secondary at a relatively cheap value.
