The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of free agent outside linebacker Angelo Crowell, Crowell, 27, meet with the Bucs on March 9, before visiting the Detroit Lions and then returning to Buffalo this past Monday. Crowell is expected to compete with third year strongside linebacker Quincy Black who earlier in the day was the teams new strong side backer based on what linebackers coach Joe Barry revealed to the media on hand.
At 6’1 246 pounds Crowell, was sidelined for all of the 2008 season after sustaining a knee injury, in 2007 he lead the Bills in tackles with 14o, also was the only linebacker in the NFL in 2007 to record a safety, sack, interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery. A third round pick of the Bills in in 2003 Crowell adds bulk to the linebacking corps.
Details of his contract are not yet available at this time. However it is believed to be a two year deal.
