Bucs to cut Brian Griese later this week

by Jim Johnson on May 13, 2009

Alex Marvez, of Fox is reporting that two unnamed sources have

Griese to be released

Griese to be released

stated the team is finalizing the details of the release, to which Brian Griese would become  a free agent. Griese who has been absent from all of the teams OTA’s this off-season has been rumored to be on the trading block for sometime now, it was believed that the team was trying to swing a trade for a late round draft pick, in exchange for the 12 year veteran signal caller.

But it now seems that there were no suitors for an aging veteran with limited arm strength. Many GM’s knew once the team signed Bryon Leftwich and drafted Josh Freeman, that the they were only going to carry four quarterbacks to camp, thus making it less likely anyone who had an interest in Griese would be willing to pony up a draft pick knowing the team would eventually just release him.
