Bucs To Release DT Chris Hovan

by Staff Report on April 26, 2010

With rumors floating around during the NFL Draft that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were diligently trying to trade veteran defensive tackle Chris Hovan after selecting not one but two defensive tackles with back, to back picks in Gerald McCoy and Brian Price Adam Schefter is reporting via twitter the Bucs plan to release Hovan today.

While it’s not a shocking move considering the team has three young potential studs in Roy Miller, McCoy and Price, but many had thought Hovan would be the lone veteran to stick at a reduced price to ensure that the rookies had a sounding board to bounce things off of.

It now looks like the team will allow Ryan Sims and former 2007 fourth round pick Dre Moore to battle it out at training camp for the right to become the teams back up nose tackle.
