Coach Quotes Friday: Raheem Morris

by Staff Report on November 13, 2009

First year Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris addressed the media Friday afternoon. He discussed the potential of  defensive end Tim Crowder and receiver Maurice Stovall starting place of injured players Stylez G White and Antonio Bryant if they are unable to suit up Sunday against the Dolphins. He also talked about the physicality of the Dolphins ground.

(On defensive ends stepping up)
“If it was the case that [Stylez G. White] couldn’t play, then I would have to say Tim Crowder. He’s been the most productive as far as getting the reps, being the most productive, being on the details. We are fired up and excited about that. We just have to wait and see.”

(On WR Maurice Stovall)
“You have to love what Stovall did last week. All he did was go in there and catch a couple of balls, make a couple of receptions and do some things that were really positive. You like what (Brian Clark) did when he came in there and had his opportunities, he is sprinkling a little bit. Sammie [Stroughter] has been a lot of fun. You’ll see the young guy go out there and play.”

(On the running game)
“We had a lot of positive runs last week. Just suffering the negative runs that get you behind the chains, that scares you out of the running game. The thing that was positive, what we had success in during the preseason, was that there are a lot of the same bodies out there. This team right here (the Dolphins) is a dominat run defensive team. They have been out there. I think they are fifth in the league against the rush. It is going to be a great challenge for our backs, the offensive line and our coaches as well.”

(On the Dolphins running more than they throw)
“This team is a physical, violent football team. This will be a test for this football team and we look forward to the challenge. They are put together by Bill Parcells, coached by a tough guy, their coaches are all tough guys. Dan Henning has been known to be a tough guy for as long as he’s been in the league. I’m really proud about the way that looks, the dynamics of that and having an opportunity to go out there to play against them.”

(On the Dolphins running game)
“They have certain runs against certain fronts. Once they see those certain fronts, they anticipate that you’re going to be in them, they will run the runs and see if they are better than you man to man.”
