Vic Lombardi, of CBS4 out of Denver is reporting disgruntled quarterback Jay Culter has requested that the Broncos trade him. According to Lombardi, Culter & his agent had a face to face with Pat Bowlen the owner of the Broncos and new head coach Josh McDaniels which is where many believe Culter made his demand to be traded known.
Bowlen went on record Sunday Mike Klis, of the Denver Post
“I’m very disappointed,” Bowlen said. “I’m disappointed in the whole picture, not just disappointed that we might lose our star quarterback.”
You have to wonder just how much of a prima dona Jay Culter is with this whole thing hanging over his head and the public temper tantrum he has displayed throughout this whole process, it is almost like he is looking for reassurance from the new coaching staff with little to no situational comfort coming in the form of a total commitment from McDaniels.
“At the end of the meeting, he wasn’t like, ‘Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you’re our guy.’ It felt like the opposite”. Culter said, “Really, I figured we’d hash things out, shake hands, laugh a little and move forward. What happened (Saturday) was the last thing I expected.”
If any fan, is expecting the Buccaneers to be the front runners in the chase to land Culter, you have to look no further then what other teams could give in the way of compensation for Culter, the Lions have two picks in the first round which would trump anything that the Bucs could offer.
Also if the Broncos feel spurned by Culter they might very well trade him to the worse situation possible out of spite.
I for one will not be holding my breathe waiting for an announcement anytime soon involving a trade of Culter, as it makes no sense for the Broncos to trade him as there is no available options to take the place of Culter and the Broncos own the rights of Culter for three more seasons based on the contract he signed when he was drafted in 2006.
