Beat writer Anwar Richardson, of the Tampa Tribune, fully expects the Buccaneers to make a play for recently released DE Jason Taylor. Taylor, 34, has a friendship with Bucs new defensive coordinator Jim Bates. Taylor spent five season with Bates when both were with the Dolphins, under Bates watchful eye Taylor recorded 64 sacks .
While he isn’t a spring chicken anymore, his greatest value in 2009 to a young Bucs team might be his working knowledge of Bates Defensive schemes that will be implemented, while providing veteran leadership. If nothing else he is worth what the Bucs were paying Kevin Carter last season as a locker room mentor to Adams and the younger players along the defensive line.
