Defense Holding Teams In Check Over Last Five Games

by Staff Report on January 3, 2010

Since Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris has taken over defensive play calling duties from demoted defensive coordinator Jim Bates, before the Falcons game in week 12. The defense is giving up 17.2 points per game and 4.6 points in the second half of the five games. Whats even more impressive is the fashion in which the defense is clamping down on opposing offenses. When you consider that rookie quarterback Josh Freeman has thrown 11 interceptions to just 2 touchdowns over those five games with 8 of them coming in the second half of the five contest.

Many would expect a much higher scoring bonanaza to be taking place, but Morris has the defense flying to the football and creating turnovers in a  timely fashion and for the most part keeping things in front of them with a bend but dont break mentalitity, one that was a staple of the old Tampa 2.
