In somewhat of a shocking turn of events at One Buc Place this afternoon Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Director of Pro Personnel Doug Williams, have mutually decided to part ways effective immediately. Williams re-joined the Buccaneers in 2004 under former general manager Bruce Allen as a personnel executive before being named the teams Director of Pro Personnel before the start of the 2009 season.
According to several published reports Williams and general manager Mark Dominik met Tuesday to discuss a contract extension that was previously reported by the local media as being a done deal. The deal was originally reported as a one-year deal that would have kept Williams in Tampa through the 2010 campaign.
However, it would appear that those reports were premature at best as Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune is reporting that Dominik articulates the departure of Williams is part of a restructuring within the front office.
