FB Weaver, Bucs could tie the knot!

by Roland Johnson on March 16, 2009

Bob Brookover, of Philly.com is reporting that free agent fullback Leonard Weaver, might re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks. But according to a league source who stated off the record that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a dark-horse to land the versatile FB who can also be a contributor on special teams.

With the recent injury history of starting fullback BJ Askew and his inability to remain healthy for an entire season adding a player that has more pop in the whole then reserve Jammel Cook should be a priority, not to mention there has been no word on the progress of Bryon Storer who emerged out of camp with the backup job last season, it looked like the team had one of the better tandems at fullback until both Storer landed on the IR with a  knee injury and Askew could not fight off nagging injuries which prompted the team to bring back Cook.

If the team does land Weaver it further solidifies there desire to want to be a more aggressive downhill running team which would greatly help whoever wins the starting quarterback job.
