According to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com, sighting an anonymous source, the Buccaneers are very interested in bringing back 14 year veteran defensive end Kevin Carter. stating a deal could be reached as early as Friday. Carter who turns 36 in September has been fairly productive in his two year stint with the Bucs as a starting left defensive end accumulating 137 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 3 passes defensed.
It is unclear whether he will be competing for a starting spot or will just be another cog in an other wise heavy defensive line rotation. That started with Larry Coyer an continued under first year defensive line coach Todd Wash in 2008. His leadership, might be the main reason the team is contemplating bring him back for another season as he is a valuable member in the Buccaneers locker room as a voice of reason.
