Penn looking to become the next "Big Thing" literally

Earlier this week we told are loyal readers of the site about the Buccaneers having concerns about left tackle Donald Penn‘s weight. It now seems Rick Stroud, of the St.Petersburg Times was able to get a close up of the scale Penn was standing on. Penn who is listed at 6-feet-5 and 305 on the teams’ official website is reportedly a rotund 360-pounds and no you are not reading that wrong, 3-6-0 is what he weighs these days. Considering his impending contract status with regards to being either a restricted or unrestricted free agent do to the rules, under the guidelines of an uncapped year. A player needs six years of accredited service to become a restricted free agent.

No wonder, why the team has not been in contract talks with his representatives’. You would think a player in line for a substantial pay raise would be able to back away from the table. To compound the matters even further, last off-season Penn fumed over the lack of a long term deal and stayed away for most of the teams OTAs. If history repeats itself, Penn is sure to distance himself this off-season from the team over what’s surely to turn into a contract squabble with management. Which wont sit well with team officials and might actually be the straw the breaks the camels back.
