Bucs promote TE Ryan Purvis from the practice squad

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have promoted TE Ryan Purvis from the practice squad to the active roster. In addition, the team placed RB Earnest Graham (toe) and DE Jimmy Wilkerson (knee) on Injured Reserve. Purvis was signed by the Bucs as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2009 out of Boston College.

Purvis, 23, will wear jersey number 46, he has spent the entire 2009 season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. He started 31-of-51 games he appeared in at Boston College, catching 113 passes for 1,122 yards and six touchdowns. His 113 receptions rank 17th on the school’s overall career receiving record list and fourth on the Boston College all-time record list for tight ends.

Graham played in 13 games with six starts at fullback in 2009, rushing for 66 yards on 14 carries and adding 14 receptions for 109 yards. He also returned two kickoffs for 38 yards and totaled six special teams tackles.

Wilkerson started each of the first 15 games and set a career-high with six sacks to rank second on the team. He ranked first on the defensive line with 66 tackles, second on the team with 28 quarterback pressures and added a team-best three forced fumbles, two passes defensed and three tackles for loss.
