Clausen heads list of underclassmen quarterbacks

With the NFL draft just over three months away and the deadline for underclassmen to declare looming on the horizon. (The date for declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft for underclassmen is January 15, 2010.) Players have three days after the declaration date to rescind and change their minds and return to school for the 2010 College season.  With that in mind we here at Bucs Central have compiled the most comprehensive list on the internet of collegiate players who have declared. We also have the list of top prospects who have decided to return to school rather then forgo their eligibility and enter the draft.

Many general mangers and scouts have been speculating for months that the floodgates would be pushed wide open with an abundance of underclassmen opting to enter this year draft, do to the possibility of a rookie wage scale and a work stoppage in 2011. The hold up, as we understand it. Is many of the underclassmen are still awaiting their grades from the NFL Advisory Committee.

The hold up, is do in large part to the availability of game tape, do to college conferences wanting the NFL to pay for it earlier this season, which severally limited the time the NFL Advisory Committee had to review each applicants’ game film and determine a round grade of where the player might be chosen.

The combination of large numbers of grade requests from underclassmen plus a lack of film has really put the advisory committee way behind schedule, thus the reason there hasn’t been more early enters announced to date.
