Bucs bringing DT BJ Raji in for a workout

by Roland Johnson on March 29, 2009

BJ Raji, of Boston College is schedule to vist the Buccaneers for a private workout. The 6’2 337 pound defensive tackle is rated as the number one prospect in this years draft at his position. Raji fits the new scheme Jim Bates is implementing like a glove. With Bates wanting defensive tackles that are best suited for two gap systems, but play within a scheme that has one gap principle’s to be pile movers with the ability to anchor against double teams.

With Raji, slated to be a top 12 pick in the draft, it is unlikely the Bucs have a shot at him sitting at 19, without a second rounder it would be hard for the team to work the phones in hopes of pulling off a trade to be in a position to draft him.
