Morris breaks down top three QB prospects

by Roland Johnson on March 26, 2009

During the owners meetings in Dana Point, Calif. Head coach Raheem Morris gave an impromptu scouting breakdown on the three top quarterbacks who are slated to be first round picks in the up coming NFL draft. Morris had glowing remarks about all three, while he thinks Matthew Stafford is a bit like Jay Culter & Josh Freeman has some Ben Roethlisberger qualities too him.

It would appear Raheem’s big board as far as the quarterback are concerned has Stafford at the top followed by Sanchez and Freeman sitting at the bottom when it comes to the three signal callers.

Georgia’s Matthew Stafford: “Talking about the big, strong-armed kid down at Georgia. Can throw it a mile. Really. Reminds me a little bit of a Jay Cutler type of guy, a guy that can throw it a mile, squeezes it in tight spots, maybe sometimes too much, has a big-time following. Just talent.”

Southern Cal’s Mark Sanchez: “You’ve got a kid at USC who’s sharp, kind of been in the limelight coming out of that program. They all are. Understands the speed of the game a little bit. Not this speed yet, but understands the speed of the game. Talented. Sharp. Smart. Ready to go.”

Kansas State’s Josh Freeman: “Absolute specimen to look at. Physical. Tall. Big. Big arm. Deceptively quick. Even though his 40 time says 4.8, he’s got that Ben Roethlisberger effect where he’s hard to tackle once you get back there, so you better send somebody blitzing big enough to get him on the ground.”

I am a Steelers fan from Argentina. Very nice Steelers information.
I am a big fan of Ben Roethlisberger and am hoping for back-to-back Super Bowls. I hope to be in Pittsburgh for a game this fall.
